A drug typically used for hooch poisoning, Fomepizole, proved effective against diethylene glycol (DEG) toxicity from the killer cough syrup Coldrif. This antidote helped save children in Madhya Pradesh who suffered severe kidney damage and brain injury after consuming the contaminated syrup, preventing further fatalities.
