In a tragic incident, three Army personnel lost their lives, and several others were injured when their truck veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Subansiri district. The accident occurred early Tuesday morning around 6 a.m. on the Trans Arunachal Highway near Tapi village.

Victims Identified

The soldiers who died in the accident have been identified as Havildar Nakhat Singh, Naik Mukesh Kumar, and Grenadier Ashish Kumar, according to Army sources.

Details of the Incident

The Army truck involved in the accident was part of a convoy transporting military personnel. The convoy was on its way from Daporijo, the district headquarters of Upper Subansiri, to Basar in Leparada district. The truck skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge, leading to the tragic loss of lives.

Local Response

Residents quickly rushed to the accident site, providing immediate assistance. They helped rescue the injured and retrieved the bodies of the soldiers.

Army and Government Condolences

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Army’s Eastern Command expressed sorrow over the incident. “Lt Gen RC Tiwari, ArmyCdrEC & All Ranks express deepest condolences on the sad demise of Bravehearts Hav Nakhat Singh, Nk Mukesh Kumar, and Grenadier Ashish who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty in Arunachal Pradesh. The Indian Army stands firmly with the bereaved families.”

Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s Tribute

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu also mourned the loss of the soldiers. He posted on X, “I am deeply pained by the loss of lives of three personnel – Havaldar Nakhat Singh, Naik Mukesh Kumar, and Grenadier Ashish Kumar – in a tragic accident near Tapi in Upper Subansiri district. Their service to the nation and supreme sacrifice will be remembered with the highest regard.”

He added, “My condolences to the bereaved families. I pray to Lord Buddha for the peace of brave souls. Om Mani Padme Hum.”
